Wedding Favors

Standard

Tis the season for weddings. I was asked by a co-worker to design a box for a friend of hers who is coming to Maui to get married.  She is gonna have mochi as her favors.  A brief aside for our non-local readers.  Mochi is a Japanese dessert made with mochi flour.  Which is made from a sweet rice.  A taste, which,  no offense to my local friends,  I have not been able to aquire.  Just not sweet enough.  I have a sweet tooth that will rival Willy Wonka’s.  Anyway… That isn’t to discount the favors.  The mochi used is famous on this island.  And maybe… The longer I live here… I will aquire it.  That has happened with many other delicacies.

I digress.  The box.  Here it is…

image

I made the box on the simply scored.  Super easy.  I embossed it with the elegant lines embossing folder and spritzed it with sparkle juice (the concoction made with alcohol and champagne shimmer paint).  The bow is made with 3/4inch wide strips of paper glued into the paper chain loop and then gluedotted together in the center.  Different lengths of paper give you the different sizes in thr bow.   I covered the center with the vintage facated button and a rhinestone!!

Here’s a side view:

image

I used the scalop boarder punch do put some detailing on the top of the box so it would show up against the bottom of the box.

image

Whatcha think? I think…. Why limit this to favors!! Since you can make boxes of all sizes on our simply scored… Its perfect for packages for jewelry…. Money…. Gift cards…. Bath and body hand sanatizers…   Anything.   I love it when one thing has many uses….

Don’t. Know if the bride will choose it,  but I sure had fun making it…

Ciao, BABY!!

Standard

Welcome Back to the “Stamp of the Month” Blog tour.  March’s installment uses Ciao, Baby from the Spring Occasions catalog.  I ordered this set as soon as I saw it.  Wanna know why…  It fits the petite curly label punch available in SAB… and the tiny scallop circle in the Occasions catalog.  And, I’m a sucker for little tags.  You can use them on everything.  Now, this set would make gorgeous cards in it’s own right…3×3 cards, tags, etc… but, when we get to March, I know the Stampin’ Up catalog is in it’s, hum, shall we say, last few moments (don’t get alarmed, you still got a couple of months…) But, as a demonstrator, with the new catalog coming in June, I have to start looking at the stamps I have and seeing what have I used, what has gotten ‘hidden’ behind something else on the shelf…  and I did… and found Baby Boutique.  It kinda got stuck back behind some other stamps, and I realized this WHOLE year has passed and I’ve not really made anything with it.  SO….  I’m paring Ciao, Baby with Baby Botique.

I wanted to do a few quick and simple cards, cause these images really are nice and bold…  for both sets…

Here is what I did:

20130308_203749

Simple colors, easy lines, fun and fast to make.

20130308_203925

Though it doesn’t specifically say it, This one would make a perfect Easter card.  I love the little detailing in the bird.  And, the Happy Day stamp from Ciao Baby looks like the bird chirped it.  I used the border from the Tasteful Trim die (I use that for EVERYTHING….not just on this blog post).  I used so saffron paper and the polkadot textured impressions embossing folder to add just a little detail…  Oh, I used crumb cake for the scallop punch and very vanilla for the card…

20130308_204029

This one makes a great card for someone who you need to give a note of encouragement or thanks!  Island Indigo ink makes a very cheerful greeting.

20130308_204055 (2)

And, the baby pajamas.  That’s what made me want to by the Baby Boutique stamp set in the first place.  This one uses pool party, but it could easily be made in any color for either gender baby… and, you can take the ‘Thank you’ stamp from the Pretty Petites (another SAB freebie) and make a set of thank you cards for the new-to-be mom.  Thank you cards… that’s what I started giving as gifts to baby and wedding showers….  a set of cards, pretty pen, stamps, and return address labels…  A perfect, hand-made gift…

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!!  Off to your next stop!  See what Deb Leigh has for you…

Best of… BIRTHDAYS!!!

Standard

Aren’t Birthdays fun times??  I’m happy now because my birthday always falls on our school’s FALL BREAK.  So, I always have the day off! It’s great!!

Anyway, thanks for joining us again on another Blog Tour!  This tour is the BEST OF 25 YEARS TOUR.  Every month of 2013, SU!  is bringing back some of the most popular images and adding a new image and releasing them in a brand new set!  AND… each set comes with a special decal proof of purchase sticker.  If you save 6 of these, you can trade them in for a FREE STAMP SET!!  (valued at 14.95).

For this set, I decided to make a cute set of 3×3 birthday cards… perfect for attaching to a gift.  SO…  with out further adieu, here is the BEST OF BIRTHDAYS!!  (132929, $14.95, clear)

20130216_081759

For this set, I looked on Pinterest (my favorite place for wasting time) to find a color challenge.  This is a good way to jump start a creative process.  I chose one that was Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Basic Black, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party.  These cards are basically made all the same way… 3×3…  I used the scallop border punch to punch the bottom… and in doing so, I put a different color to be the inside of the card just so it would show up under the scallop border.

20130216_081344

This set has mostly outlined images, so I pulled out the Many Marvelous Markers (and they are MARVELOUS) to do some ole’ fashioned coloring.  I love to color.

20130216_081149

The rhinestones just added a touch of bling that made gave the little birthday tag a little sparkle.  I also toyed with using dazzling details glitter, but didn’t want to go over the top…

20130216_081201

I like this one the best.  And, the black on the inside is only a 1/2″ piece, so that the giver could still write on it with a regular pen…

20130216_081211

The moment I saw the oval stamp, it screamed to me white emboss on black card stock.  So, that’s what I did.  I also embossed on Pool Party so I could trim out that banner image in the center.

20130216_081324

Well.  Maybe I like this one the best.  I like cupcakes.  DELICIOUS.

The supplies for these little cards are pretty simple.  In addition to the cardstock colors I listed above, I used black staz-on ink, the markers, and the scallop border punch.  You could sit down in an evening and knock a bunch of these out so you’d be set for birthdays for the whole year.  They’re cute and FAST and are sure to make the receiver smile.

Thanks for joining us!!  Off to the next stop… click the button below…

With a dig…dig…diggy… VALENTINE!!

Standard

OOH Today is Valentine’s Day!!

Now, the day hasn’t really made THAT big of an impression on me… but it’s fun when I have a good idea.  And, I like my idea for this year.  If I do say so myself.  Thought of it myself.  Well… most of it.

So, when Isaac was born, people would tell me “He’s ALL boy”.  And, I never really understood exactly what that meant.  Especially I grew up in a FAMILY of girls.  Three sisters.  My husband has TWO sisters.  Then Isaac comes, and as a baby, people are telling me he is a boy.  Duh.  But, as he has been growing…  it’s hitting me like a slap on the forehead.  And on his head (he just got 5 stitches on his eyebrow after a very boyish crash involving a chair, exercise ball… and apparently a mommy who needs to be more careful when she is sweeping… So the BOY says.

ANYWAY… This is what Isaac’s Valentines’ are gonna be:

20130213_215648

It’s a CUP of DIRT AND WORMS!!  Nah, just a cup of crushed graham crackers and gummy worms.  And, I made these tags:

20130213_215457

This comes from the I DIG YOU stamp set.  I markered them, stamped, and cut out.  Used the tiny brads to put on the wheels and then put them on the large tag from the two tags die.  This was cut from the early espresso core’dinations paper, embossed and sanded (sorry… paper isn’t available anymore.  email SU… to tell them they need to re-release it.)  I found these tiny shovels on amazon to add to the tag.  (Isaac LOVES shovels).

20130213_222025

This is the finished product.  Put lids on the dirt cups and tied in a bag.  I LOVE the new Natural Trim ribbon (Spring Occasions Catalog).  It has the look and weave of burlap but is a lot softer and easy to use.

Here is the mess of them:

20130213_222058

This is what inspired the diggy valentine…

20130126_115243

The stamp set is a MUST have for all proud BOY families.

And, being we have family all over the country, I had to make a valentine to send away.  This is what the family on the mainland got:  (I created it in My Digital Studio).  It doesn’t have a diggy theme, but was too cute to pass up…

valentine-001

and back:

valentine-002

Well….  Hope you have a wonderful VALENTINE’s DAY!!  And, I can’t help but thinking about the biggest, best valentine of all…

For GOD so LOVED the world that HE GAVE his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.   John 3:16.

And, check back on SUNDAY for the Stampin’ UP 25th Anniversary Stamp Set Blog tour!!

Special Valentine Delivery

Standard

So… a while back a friend of mine asked me to make a “Baby’s First Year” scrapbook album for her daughter who is due sometime this month.  They made it as a gift for her at the shower.  For baby’s first year, I usually do a Valentine themed page for the month of February, but since this conflicted with the actual ARRIVAL of the baby, I decided to try to meld the two ideas together.  So, this is what I got…  (idea was cased from a card I saw on pinterest… but I cannot remember who)

20130103_172158 (1)

I apologize for the junky picture, (and the surrounding mess) but it is what it is.  And, I don’t have the album anymore to take another…  But, I LOVE it…  (oh… so humble I am….  snort).  For this, I used every heart framelit and punch I owned.  And, since it was a baby boy, I wanted to keep the red and pink, and girly to a minimum.  Hence the pool party, island indigo and suede…

So…  enjoy…

AND!!  I’m part of ANOTHER blog tour.  2 A MONTH now!!  (WOW).  The next one is coming up THIS Sunday.  And, it is the “Anniversary Blog” tour.  It will feature all of the stamp sets that SU is releasing every month in honor of their 25th anniversary.  They are the most popular images from different sets they’ve had over the years, plus a NEW image.  AND…  if you order the set, you get a special little card and decal… you collect 6 of these over the course of the next year, and you will get a free stamp set valued at $14.95!!  HOW FUN IS THAT!!!

So…  see you soon!

Favorite Favors

Standard

So…  I bet you are gonna PASS OUT from shock to see that I’ve posted TWICE so close together.  I am actually trying to be better about this… so…

I wanted to show you some favors I made for a friend’s daughter’s non-bridal bridal shower.  There’s a whole story behind that, but whatever.  I’m not sure I understand… except that it was a day before the wedding and she hadn’t had opportunity to have a shower, but they didn’t want a shower so they had brunch.  So, call it brunch.  That is what it was.

But, said friend is a fellow stamper, THE MAUI STAMPER, as a matter of fact and you can check out her blog here for more pics from the wedding and other beautiful decorations she made (and favors and LOTS of just beautiful scenery).  Her name is Anne.  You’ve probably heard me mention her before.

Anyway, she gave me a bucket of chocolate macadamia nuts and said do whatever I like to make favors for the BRUNCH.  YAY.  That’s my favorite.  DO WHAT I LIKE.  Does this woman really know what she is saying…???!!!???

So, this is what I liked:

20130201_064458

It’s just a simple belly band that covers more than just the belly.  The bride chose the “Blushing Bride” and “Pear Pizzazz” paper (both retired–sorry) and Very Vanilla.  I used the antique brads in the center of the flower.  Which was made by several layers of the blossom punch and then sliced the petals with scissors.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the two-tone satin ribbon…  this went around the middle.  I stamped the blushing bride paper with the Flowering Flourishes stamp set.  This is my replacement for the retired Baroque Motifs (I was SO sad to lose this one).  And I used the polka-dot embossing folder on the pear.

Here is the hidden chocolate.  Who can resist CHOCOLATE MAC NUTS??

20130201_064537

Then, I found this SUPER cute basket and cloth napkin at Pier 1 that made for PERFECT presentation of the whole mess of bellies of hidden chocolate.  DELICIOUS.

Oh… The paper I made the flowers with.  Was from (mumble mumble…I forgot….)  (not Stampin’ Up….  eek….I know… just had it lying around and needed to use it up).

20130201_064735

Anyway, ENJOY!!

Collage Curios

Standard

Hello!!

I cannot believe a WHOLE month has passed by…and I’ve not posted anything.  It’s been a CRAZY few weeks and I profusely apologize.  But, lets not wallow in self pity…  On to more exciting things like STAMPING.

As you probably know, today’s featured stamp set is Collage Curios.  And, I have to admit… this one didn’t catch my eye.  I have a hard time with the real little images on a BIG card… but, here is what I came up with.

20130209_141441 20130209_141454

Pennants are HUGE now.  I just helped a very good friend out with her daughter’s wedding (see Anne Matasci, Maui Stamper who is ALSO part of this blog tour)  hang pennants for her wedding!!  And I’ve decided I gotta make some spring pennants to hang in my house.  Just cause I CAN.  (and WHY NOT).  Anyway, you don’t need to be part of the inner voices that are always arguing inside my head…  But, as I was saying, when I saw these pennants I was thinking that they fit the little scallop edgelit in the catalog (Large Scallop Edgelits, #127019) in the catalog.  Then I got to wondering if I actually HAD this die.  And, when I opened my die box, I realized I DID!!  (Don’t you love it when your compulsive stamp shopping actually works out!!).  Anyway, I used the sentiment stamp from the SAB set Vintage Verses (#129636).  And, I just HAD to use the Pool Party Embossing Powder to make it stand out.  There is little detail on this card so the embossing powder really ADDS.  And, my NEW FAVORITE:  THE SUPER TINY SCALLOP PUNCHES.  The yellow scallop circle is the carry over from the Holiday Catalog (1 1/4″ Scallop Circle, pg 36 in the Spring Occasions Catalog, #127811) and the tiny white scallop (7/8″ Scallop Circle, pg 16 in the Spring Occasions Catalog #129404) is new in this catalog.  And, they compliment each other perfectly.  The pool party circle is the 1″ circle…

Anyway, lots of fun.

Here’s a second card I made with the set:

This one, I opened my NEW FRESH package of Core’dinations Paper (#129322, Primrose Petals).  I just LOVE the stuff.  And, it’s only $6.95 for 12 sheets of 12×12!!!  I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder just to add texture and sanded off some of the outer layer of the cardstock to reveal the inner core!!

Then, I used sticky strip to add the DROP DEAD GORGEOUS two tone satin ribbon.  The moment I laid eyes on this stuff I knew I had to have it.  And, I promptly ordered 3 rolls (#129295).  Added the white doily die cut from the Perfect Pennants Bigz Die (#123126), a label from the Apothecary Accents Framelits Collection (#127003).  This was cut out of Basic Gray that had been honeycomb embossed… but you can’t really see it in the picture.

Then, this is my FIRST time flattening the Soda caps!!  Which is VERY easy to do.  You put the soda cap in between the cutting plates and run it through the big shot on the plain (not tab 1 or 2) multipurpose platform.  And VOILA.  A flat soda cap.  That is a GREAT embellishment.  These soda caps are in the Spring Occasions Catalog (#129388).  And, I stamped the word background from the Collage Curios Set in the primrose petals and the Eiffel Tower image with Stazon… just cause I then filled it with Crystal Effects.  Which gives it that nice, lacquered look.  Added some bling, and it’s finished!!  This would be a great Valentine’s Card…with out being TOO sappy…

20130209_141508

another view:  I’m experimenting with angles…

20130209_141522

and, close up… the Crystal Effect kinda smears the pink ink, which is why it’s probably best to use the StazOn for the Eiffel Tower image.  But, the smeary kind of gives it the shabby chic look…

Anyway…

My Heart is Fluttering!!

Standard

Hello!!  And Welcome to the 3rd posting of the Remarkables Blog Tour!!  I hope you are enjoying this… I sure am.

So, Today is about Valentine’s.  Or any other event you’d need LOTS of hearts.  I have to admit.  I first saw this stamp set and didn’t give it a second look.  I have heart stamps.  But, then when I actually PLAYED with it, I fell in love.  And, here’s why:  It’s got matching Framelits.  AND, the heart is the same size in but with different stamps.  I like that I can have the same size of image in many different ways.

And, I am a teacher, so I had Christmas Vacation to play a lot with this set.  It has quickly become a favorite of mine from the Occasions Mini.

Needed a little of inspiration, I took to pinterest to find a color challenge.  This one was a fun one… Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Basic Gray, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White.  I gotta say, Pinterest is the creative jump-start…    And here is what I came up with.  I kind of wanted to do a SUITE of different things… for all the different people you need a little gifty for on Valentine’s Day.

Oh…  and because Heart’s A Flutter is wordless, it works for a lot of different things.  But, I wanted SOME words… so in the samples you see below, all words are from the Tiny Tags Stamp Set.  Nope, I lied.. .Tiny Tags and Pretty Petites (a Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek…)

20130111_125644

Here we have something for everyone…

First off, is the Valentine’s Card for the Husband (friend, lover, whomever…it’s pretty generic… and you can change the sentiment)

20130106_205350

My favorite, absolute FAVORITE item from the mini is the honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TEIF)

Next we have the gift to our BESTEST FRIEND… (who always appreciates a good hug–both the human and chocolate variety)… The Up-cycled Starbucks Frappachino Bottle filled with a Hershey’s Hugs.

20130111_130453

Then we  have the PERFECT gift for the teachers (and, cause I am a teacher, I can speak from experience)  The Hershey Bar Slider…

20130106_205450

Here is a picture of the bar with it partially open:  (notice that it is HERSHEY DARK)

20130106_205522

And here is the package without the chocolate, so you can see how to put it together.  Punch a hole in the TOP LAYER ONLY of your pocket (and to make the pocket, I just cut card stock a little longer and wider for it to wrap completely around a chocolate bar…or WHATEVER… but this teacher likes chocolate… dark chocolate).  Thread ribbon through it and around a chocolate bar, and tie.  There… It will slide in and out… And BTW… I lied again. The Two Toned Ribbon may be my favorite item.  Well… I CAN’T DECIDE ON A FAVORITE.

Let’s see…where does that leave us…  OH, the little card box.  This is good for your sister, mom, friend, or that person in your life who ALWAYS encourages others.  Cause there are 4 little note cards and mini envelopes that they will just LOVE giving away to people…

20130106_205828

This is a close up of the front of the box.  I used the framelits heart to cut out the heart shape and the new soda caps with crystal effects to add that little detail…  These look great packaged in our gusset cello bags!!

Here is a close up of the contents:

20130111_130210

And next we have the little post-it easel.  These are GREAT for the co-workers. Fast and EASY to make and they are very cost effective as they don’t use a WHOLE pad of post-its.  It will brighten ANYONE’s day on Valentine’s.

20130106_205408

Here it is from the top, closed (mostly…)

20130106_205436

On this, I got out that honeycomb TIEF again!!  And, used the Pool Party Co’ordinations paper.  LOVE IT TOO.  And, I’m getting back into embossing.  I can’t figure out why I didn’t enjoy it.  I always thought I didn’t like it.  But, the SU embossing power melts so smooth… and FAST.  And, the redesigned heat tool (new to this catalog year) WHISPERS compared to the others… (I think I was afraid to emboss cause I’d wake the kid…)  Anyway…

Here is the image of the stamp set…  and if you think you wanna make these Valentine’s, you better get your product ordered.  You have exactly ONE MONTH!!  🙂  And, Hey, Stamp Club Members:  Leave a comment for which project you’d like to make at club this month!!  I can’t decide… I love them all…

Private Classes!! and Hearts A Flutter Preview

Standard

Hello!!

I wanted to take this time to share a new idea I’m trying to implement… the idea of a private class.  What is this exactly? Well, I’m glad you asked.  A private class takes the pressure out of ‘hosting’ an SU event.  Here is how it goes:

You invite the people (and if you need a space. talk to me) and we will make a pre-determined project.  This month, it is the Heart’s A Flutter Mini Love Note Box (see photo below).  Everyone pays $5 to make the project.  End of story.  That way, this includes the people who just like to ‘hang out’ but aren’t stampers.  It is a fun, enjoyable time and we get to craft together.  Now, should people decide they need to place an order, because they had SO MUCH FUN, they can have their class fee refunded (if they place at least a $30 order).  AND, as the host of the private class, you would get to collect the hostess benefits.

And, in addition to the super generous hostess benefits that SU has, here is what I’m going to offer:

  • Handmade or Digitally designed gift by me
  • If 10 guests come, you can receive a free pack of bakers twine (you choose color)
  • If you collect $100 in outside orders, you will receive a free embossing powder
  • For every private ‘class’ scheduled off of yours, you will receive afree stamp pad (purchased at the booked class)

So… Here is the private class project that will be offered this month (until Feb 14).  Contact me to set up your Private Class.  And, as added incentive, January 22 is the start of Sale-A-Bration. This gives every guest who places a $50 order their choice of FREE product.  It’s the best promotion SU does ALL YEAR.  (and, there are incentives for hostesses as well)

Image

These adorable little love notes (they don’t HAVE to be used for Valentines) would you have you ready to go for the holiday.  They would also make good GIFTS for the holiday… packaged in our gusset cello bags!!  This project uses the Hearts A Flutter Stamp Set.  (Which, you need to come back here on January 13 to see a blog tour featuring this set)

Here is a close up of the box, which uses our new SODA CAPS:

more sale-a-brating

Standard

Okay… SO here is another glimpse at Sale-A-Bration.

This cutie comes from the Patterned Occasions Sale-A-Bration set.  I love it.  It seems so suited for a teen or tween girl who excels at something and you just wanna give an  “‘atta girl” to…   I can see using it for graduation..  Possibilities are endless.  And, this isn’t the only stamp in the set!!  You will have to stay tuned for more.

20130104_171437

So, this uses the Sycamore Street DSP as well.  And, the honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I think that it is my NEW favorite folder.  It’s available in the Occasions Mini, so you don’t have to wait until January 22 to get it.    And, that little button, it’s new.  From the Occasions Mini…  Another of my favorites.  Beautiful Silver Brushed Nickel.  Stampin’ UP is really getting it right with the buttons.  There was one in the last catalog that I just fell in love with as well…  anyway, I digress…

20130104_171502

Here is an up close  so you can see the texture on the button.  AND the texture on the NEW Pool Party Co’oredinations paper!!  Now, I didn’t even sand the honeycomb after, and it still works great.  But, the way the paper comes, it makes an excellent lightly textured background paper.  LOVE IT.  Do you notice the Rich Razzleberry Scallop Circle?  First off, it’s embossed with the Vine Street TIEF.  But, you must be thinking, what SIZE is that??  Do I have it??  And the answer would be, “No, Cuz it’s NEW”.  The 7/8″ scallop circle.  It coordinates with ALL our other scallop punches so it will be a must have…

Here’s the LOW-DOWN:

  • Patterned  Occasions Stamp Set (SAB)
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper
  • Island Indigo card stock
  • Pool Party Co’ordinations card stock
  • Rich Razzleberry card stock
  • Summer Starfruit card stock
  • 7/8″ scallop punch
  • 1″ circle punch
  • 3/4″ circle punch
  • itty bitty shapes punch pack
  • Pool Party Bakers Twine
  • Basics Designers Buttons (brushed nickel)

And, Don’t forget to check pack on Jan 13!!  We will be having another blog tour featuring “Heart’s A-Flutter”.  I’m SO excited about the stuff I made.  First time I didn’t case ANYTHING (well, the color scheme I took from a color challenge I saw on pinterest).   It was fun just to PLAY… You will be SO ready for Valentine’s Day after this tour…
