Well, with this month I’m particularly happy about because it features one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE stamp sets.  TAPE IT.  It’s a stamp set that looks like WASHI TAPE.  Be still my heart.  I”m still a bit of a newbie when it comes to the uses of washi tape, but it is becoming one of my all time favorites…. ANYWAY, having the stamp set allows you to do more things… you can stamp over text, etc… and make it in any color.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2014 to YOU!!

So, here is a little peak at one of my FAVORITE project and classes that I have been doing every year for the past several years.  I love these little easel calendars.  They are so fun to create and fun to give as gifts!!  This year, we have something special for you… There are only 3 of the Maui Stampers that make their own versions of these calendars, but we decided to put together a little blog hop for you to see our creations.  It’s fun to see everyone’s different take on every month!!

So, for you on this FIRST day of January 2014 (It’s gonna take me till April to type 2014 on the first try…) I have the cover of page of the calendar and January…

First, the cover page:

I love that quote, “Live the Life You’ve Imagined”.  I’m reminded often that my response to situations is what makes my circumstances good or bad.  And, that is the most critical in determining my happiness or what I get out of different situations…  I don’t have to be an observer of life, but can LIVE it.  And, am excited about this prospect in 2014…

This cover page was created with one of my favorite sets:  Tape it.  And, I use Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, So Saffron, Baked Brown Sugar inks and the Pistachio card stock for the backing.

And now for January:

This little snow man I received FREE from the SU Convention.  Which I’m happy about, cause I’m not sure I would have bought it. It seems a little weird to live on Maui and do lots of stuff with snowflakes, snowmen, and such other winter scene icons…  So, it was fun to play with a set I don’t normally use.  This particular one is called Snow Day.  And, because I am on Maui, and because of the cheerful demeanor of this snowman, I wanted to make sure he was bright and cheerful…  So I stamped his body in Smoke Slate and did his hat in Tempting Turquoise and buttons in Melon Mambo…  This is SURE to banish winter blues and ring in the new year with a smile!!

So, this blog tour will have 3 stops.  Besides my calendar, you will have the privilege of seeing Anne’s and Cheryl’s calendars as well.  They will publish on the first of every month for 2014… ENJOY!!

A Grunge Birthday

Standard

So…  When we returned from convention, mauistamper organized a stamp a stack for our downlines to play with new convention sets and talk about convention…  and all exciting new stuffs.  This was one of the cards we made:

It utilizes the Gorgeous Grunge (which I LOVE) and a simple tag.  Could make this ANY kind of card by changing the tag.  So easy.

And, of course, I needed an idea of something for club to do, so I changed it a little and made this:

Exact same thing.  Changed colors, added a candle made from the “Tape-it” stamp set (the candle idea was cased from Stampin Success).  Used the bird wing from the bird punch to make the flame.    Simple!!

I get a lot of requests for manly cards.  And I’m always at a loss for what exactly that means, I think this could qualify.  Could change the color to green or a darker blue.  Or black or gray… would be more manly..

And, speaking of birthdays…. I kinda forgot about mine.  Not my ACTUAL birthday…but my Stampin’ Up! birthday.  I received this in the mail:

Very exciting.  I knew it was coming, but it just kind of slipped my mind…  what a nice surprise.  And, who can believe it’s been that long!!??!!

What do pumpkins have to do with paper?

Standard

The answer to this, I do not know.

But, what I do know is that you only have a FEW DAYS LEFT to take advantage of the Paper Pumpkin Promotion (say that 10 times fast).  This is the monthly subscription service that brings a glorious little orange little box to your door with everything you need for a 30 minute craft ‘timeout’.  Cause we are learning that time outs are sometimes necessary for our own sanity.

Paper Pumpkin is $19.95/month (plus tax) but if you sign up right now, (by August 31) you will get your first TWO months for $10.   Go to mypaperpumpkin.com and use the code PUMPKINDEAL.  This is a wonderful deal.  And, to sweeten the pot, I have a few things to show you.  First off, if you sign up and designate me as your demonstrator, you will get a little gifty from me…

It’s a stamp case to store your paper pumpkin stamps and a tube of Tombow the Wonder Adhesive (as Anne calls it, and I agree).  Adhesive is the only thing that doesn’t come in the kit.

Here’s a close up:

And, here is something I made from the first kit you will receive….  (Now, the card isn’t the one in the kit, but I’m using the same stamps….just to show you the versatility of it.  Cause after you make what is in the kit, you can make OTHER things too…)

And full disclosure.  I totally copied this card.  Out of the most recent Stampin’ Success.  Stampin’ Success is one of the perks of being a demo.  You get a beautiful magazine every couple of months that have LOADS of ideas.  Ideas you can use.  Right away.  Like I just did.  Cause I can.

Your starter Pumpkin kit comes with that “hey there” stamp and the splotches stamp.  The stamps that look like washi tape come from a stamp set called “Tape It”.  (BTW, I LOVE that set too).  I used calypso coral, summer star fruit and pistachio pudding ink, and crumb cake ink (stamp off to make it appear lighter).  The cardstock is very vanilla and crumb cake.

Here’s another look:

I’m experimenting with a black background for photos.  Let me know what you think.  Do you like it better than the white background??

Here is a close up of the embellishment:

Some bling and linen thread and a couple of punches make the card just stand out.  This card comes together SO fast.  And it is another use for your starter kit!!

And, you can give paper pumpkin as a gift too.  It’s fun to get a coupe of kits and take them and put them together with a friend.  Even friends who don’t craft or are used to stamping.  It’s so easy to do and put together that they will have a good time working on it with you.

So, remember…. by August 31.  Mypaperpumpkin.com  code:  PUMPKINDEAL.

And I guess we can say pumpkins and paper mean an EXCELLENT time out.  Do you follow my logic???
