Tricks and Treats

Standard

We are still in the mainland and I have all the feels as the weather starts cooling off. It’s been nearly 25 years since I got to have a fall! I’m trying to resist the urge to buy all the decor and sweaters! But it’s hard-

As October rolls in, we will welcome this month with this little guy— the happiest Dracula I’ve ever seen! This is from the Tricks and Treats stamp set.

Highland Heather, basic black and smoke slate are a super simple color palette to make it a ‘non-traditional’ October color scheme! I love to do something different when it works out!

Happy October to all of you! And I hope you enjoy some happy tricks and treats!

Happy Summer

Standard

Hello June!

You knew we couldn’t go too long without a plants post- right??

This page is the page that inspired the cover of the calendar this year. Just changed the background color (like how I made it seem intentional— when in reality it’s just that I didn’t have that much paper of one color. Hahaha).

The stamp set is called Plentiful Plants and I just love all the fun plants. And the colors include misty moonlight, old olive lemon lime, garden green. Pecan pie and crushed curry.

Hope your summer is happy! Go check out Anne and Cheryl today!

Gorgeously Made

Standard

I had to choose this set because it reminded me of one of my favorite scriptures :

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

I know wonderfully and gorgeously aren’t exactly the same but they’re not far apart.

It all just reminds me of how unique and special each one of us are. And how unique and special the things we make can be- and that when we share them, hopefully we pass along some of that uniqueness and specialness for others to enjoy.

This set is a super simple set to use. And I like it cause of all the different textures included in the images. You can layer them to make a really nice image. Here I use. pool party, lemon lolly, and petal pink,

I hope you had a wonderful Easter. He Is RISEN…..HE IS RISEN INDEED

Oh…I need a Pomegranate Iced Tea….

Standard

Summer is heating up and that’s how we know August is here. And, this super cheerful Perfectly Pomegranate set reminds me of one of my favorite drinks: Pomegranate iced tea! I only get it when I am able to make my way to Nordstrom’ s ebar in Oahu– but, it’s definitely a delightful drink after a day of roaming Ala Moana… 🙂

The colors here also remind me of the the tea– the deep rich berry… And, when I saw this stamp set I knew it needed to have it’s own month.

I used poppy parade for the main color and a little of cherry cobbler to add the seed detail. Old olive provides the green…

You know… maybe I don’t have to go to Nordstrom— a little iced tea and and pom juice can do the trick!

Always a reason to Celebrate

Standard

I love celebrating. And I love flowers. So, I knew this Celebrate With Flowers stamp set needed to be part of my collection.

I mean, just look how happy it is! I was attracted to the simple line art and the quirkiness of it when I saw it, and I just love the variety of ways you can make it work. I also love that it lends itself to a unique style of card (think slim-line) as well. The inclusion of the vertical Happy Birthday is also what attracted me to this set–different than the norm, and unexpected! (I will include a pic of the images below).

So, for April, I hope you can find something to celebrate! And, while doing so, make some pretty flowers to go along with the celebration!

Go check out what Anne and Cheryl have for you today!

PS: This stamp set is currently available, but it will NOT be available for much longer! It’s being retired at the end of this month (but, will only be around while supplies last!) So, if you want to own one, you better snatch it up FAST! If you message me, I can help you do that!

Joy to the World!

Standard

Christmas brings such JOY to me! I love this stamp set with the bold declaration of “JOY”!

All the images come from the stamp set Peace and Joy. And, they’re great for mixing and matching–and adding the large script with a small block print. It works perfectly here and would be great on a Christmas card too! I used real red and old olive for the images. Expresso is used for the block text. Super simple, super easy, but a striking declaration of the season!

I can’t believe we are at the end of the year! It has come so quickly! I pray that you can know the Joy that has been declared to the world through the birth of our Savior! We celebrate Him this season!

If you happen to be on Maui, stop by our street! Come shop local makers and small businesses to finish up your Christmas lists! As an added treat, the Maui High School Choir will be caroling through the streets! Hope to see you!

Have a wonderful Christmas! And head on over to see what Anne and Cheryl have in store for you today!

With love and aloha!!– Crystal

Sweet September Sunflower

Standard

If you have followed me for ANY length of time, you will know that I CANNOT turn down a beautiful sunflower. I positively love sunflowers. In fact, I believe they are my favorite flower. Something about…. you can take the girl out of Kansas, but can’t take Kansas out of the girl…

Imagine my delight when we got a sunflower farm on Maui:

I cannot believe I get to live HERE. So many blessings…

When Stampin’ Up released Celebrate Sunflower, I just knew I had to have it. And, I knew it would be a lot of fun to use with our stampin’ blends. The blends make coloring a true joy…

September is the month that turns our minds towards fall and the anticipation of all the excitement that will be coming. I love the fall colors and pumpkins and cozy sweaters (except, the sweaters are not so good for where I live).

I used crumb cake as a good neutral background to this flower. And, used a variety of blends (including daffodil, mango, crumb cake, bronze, and soft suede. There are many ways to accomplish a variety of looks. Play around with coloring! You will find your favorite.

Thoughtful Blooms

Standard

AAAAAHhhhhhhhh…. August. The month that is both full of excitement and trepidation…. Funny how the ONE event can have both feelings…. but, alas, school is starting again.

I am very excited to go back to school. I have missed students! But, I’m also anxious about it because it means getting back to the busy. I am trying to find a way to keep the ‘slowness’ of the shutdown alive a little longer…

This beautiful stamp set is called Thoughtful Blooms. And, it was an Sale-A-Bration offering from last year. (No longer available) It also had the coordinating flower punch which makes this set really pop!

I love paring smoky slate and flirty flamingo together. They are such a good combination… the peacefulness of the gray with the excitement of the pink. Kind of the balance I am searching to create in my own busy.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy back to school! Head on over to see what Anne and Cheryl have for you today!

Sweetest little patterns

Standard

February. We are in the swing of the new year and beginning to look to spring coming soon. And Valentine’s Day is the start of the cuteness of spring. For this month, I used a non-traditional set to make this sweet scene.

Playful patterns is a fantastic set to have in your collection. It is a great set for subtle backgrounds and easy repetitive designs. I used flamingo and smoke slate to make the images. Super easy to do!

Who else has pattern play? I wanna see what you use it on! Post a pic and tag me! @hanniejoyandco on Instagram so I can see! Hope you have a special month with those love. And since we can’t BE with all our loved ones this year, make a special valentine and pop it in the mail. This is my challenge to you. Brighten someone’s day! LONG LIVE SNAIL MAIL!

Oh 2021. So happy to see you

Standard

I’m not sure that there has ever been a new year that we’ve looked forward with as much anticipation as we have this new year.

So I’m happy to have a fresh new calendar to welcome 2021 with! For January, I did step out of my comfort zone and used an actual snowman image. It always seems weird to me to do much with snowmen or other winter scenes as…well, our idea of winter is about 76 degrees and partly cloudy…

This happy guy is from Snowman Season and he’s happy to be celebrating 2021 as well. Just a few swipes with the pool party blend and that adds just enough color to make him come alive.

I too am looking forward to 2021, but I keep remind myself to not put unreasonable expectations on the idea that just because 2020 is over we will be free from challenges. 2020 was a rough year for us, personally and collectively (as it was for everyone). And as I think back through the year I am so thankful for the constants I had in my life. My faith and my family sustained me through some dark times. And as I see this collective burst of anticipation for 2021, I just want to make sure that my focus is not on the year or the newness or any of the things that can change but that it remains on the constant that never changes: That my faith is my constant support and my family will be there for me no matter what the days on this new calendar brings. My wish is that we hold on these lessons from 2020 and they become the solid foundation for us in 2021.

I wish you the best of New Years and I’m hoping you can celebrate with those you love most (even if it is on FaceTime).

Head on over to see what Anne and Cheryl have for you for this new year!

Also! I have a handful of these completed calendars left. You will get a new image each month to brighten up your space. If your interested in one, contact me and we can work out the details!
