Springtime Blooms

Standard

I love that April is here. For me, it’s a signal that spring is here and in full swing… Back in KS, you couldn’t always count on March being full on spring… There could always be one last snow storm that snuck in…. On Maui too…this seemed to be the case for this year. Not the snow… Mind you .. we have rain. But these last couple of days of March, leading in to April are beautiful! Sunny Spring Time! Bring on flowers!

This flower and background image comes from the You’ve Got This stamp set and I love it in it’s simplicity. Easy to stamp but also is a striking image. I used the simple black outline here but it would also be fun to color with our stampin’ blends…

I loved it so much I also decided to make it the cover of the 2018 calendar…

Spring is ‘Ready to Pop’

Standard

Happy March! Can’t believe it is nearly spring break. As a teacher, every month has it’s highlight and for March, it’s most definitely spring break.

So. The name of this stamp set is Ready to Pop. And it has this awesome little border stamp that works so perfect here. And the little punch (sorry, it’s retired) adds just the right flowers for some sweet sprintime blooms. The paper is blushing bride and the ink is pear pizzazz.

Thanks for stopping by today! Head on over to see what Anne and Cheryl have for you!

Welcome 2018!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Calendar!  One of my favorite things about the new year is it’s a fresh new everything. And as I’m currently in the process of making the house fresh and new (not ACTUALLY…. But you know, the customary and impulsive cleaning and organizing that a new year brings) I’m excited to show you the new 2018 easel calendar!

I really do enjoy making these calendars. Here is the January edition for you today:

These adorable lanterns come from the Color Me Happy stamp set. I got lots of practice with the new Stampin’ Blends markers (the alcohol based markers that replaced the Blendabilities). I am SO happy to be able to have these markers again. They make coloring so much more fun.  I also dabbed a bit of Wink of Stella glimmer on each of them… Cause glitter makes everything much more festive. Hard to see… But this photo makes it a little better:

And as in years past, Anne and Cheryl will be joining me again for a little 2018 calendar tour! So you will be able to see three different takes on each month! Hope you enjoy!  Click the links to see what Anne and Cheryl made for you!

And… For you calendar DIYers… Anne has made a Pinterest board for everyone to post the calendars we all make. Send me your Pinterest user ID and we will add you to the board!

Happy 2018 to you!

Colors of Fall

Standard

I just LOVE fall colors.  And Fall.  And crackling fires and apple cider.  This calendar page reminds me of all that.  And, it’s a reminder that I am truly blessed.

This leaf stem comes from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set (see August ) and it is simply stamped in 3 colors… Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon (retired) and Cajun Craze

Oh the succys!

Standard

I just LOVE succulents.  They’re so cute.  And the little mini pots of mini succulents… omg…my fave.  Except, I kill plants.  And everyone tells me–oh you can’t kill a succulent—but I AM THAT TALENTED.  I can.  Totally can kill them.  SO.  When this stamp set came out, Live, Love, Grow, I knew I needed it. (Sorry, but it is now retired).  It is the solution to my murderous nature when it comes to plants.

The colors here are so easy… Emerald envy is the darker green and the silvery-green is the mint macaroon (retired).  The little flower punch (retired) is flirty flamingo.

Sunburst!

Standard

So, when we got the color Flirty Flamingo, I fell in love with it immediately.  It’s the perfect mix between pink and coral and perfectly cheerful.  And, I’ve always been attracted to this Kinda Eclectic stamp set, but never really sure of what to do with it.  Until the color and the calendar came along…

And BAM.  You have a butterfly flying in the sunset.  Hee Hee…  I like the look of a bold color with a very neutral and graphic background.

When it comes to card making (and calendars) I feel that I am being drawn more and more to simplicity in both color and design.

Summer Nights

Standard

I love a good Kansas Summer evening… that comes complete with the magical presence of FIREFLIES  I just LOVE them.  It’s so pretty to look out across the yard and see the little bits of glowing floating around in the trees.  So, when this Jar of Love stamp set came out I KNEW IMMEDIATELY it was going to have to be in my calendar.  And that it had to be for JUNE.

So, the colors in this month are very simple.  The pink is the flirty flamingo.  I used Sahara Sand to stamp the jar, handle, and fireflies. (A tiny bit of masking with a post-it to make the bow not be too big for the jar neck).  And, then I colored the fly behinds with the daffodil marker and added a smudge of wink of stella (Stella doesn’t like it’s picture taken apparently…so hard to get it to show up on photographs…)

Now I can have my fireflies in Hawaii…

BOYS’ DAY!

Standard

As I mentioned in March, Hawaii has a tradition of celebrating Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day.  Well, March was for the girls.  And MAY is for the boys!  May 5 to be exact.  And, the tradition is to fly a flag off the porch that has the carp on it.  One for each male member in the family.  So…

Here is our BOYS’ Day FLAG!  (I technically need 3 flags for my family, but we have to pretend here).  This cute little fish comes from the Jar of Love stamp set.    (A set that has SO MANY possibilities.  You most definitely need it).

Swirly Birdie!

Standard

I don’t know why, but this set reminds me of the “April Showers Bring May Flowers” little rhyme.  It doesn’t make any sense at all, cause there are NO SHOWERS here, but still.  Maybe all the blue.  No idea.  But I love it.

I LOVE this Swirly Bird stamp set.  So many ways to do t hings with this.  You can use the flower images as nice backgroud fillers or you can use them as centerpieces in the design.  I love the different blues.  Soft sky and pool party give the different blue variations.  And, of course Daffodil adds the pop of stand-out color.  Perfect for spring time.

Feb

Happy February!  As we turn the page to this month, love is in the air!!  I love these little lady bugs.  So cute.  Reminds me of those I love in my own life…

This month is so simple, but cute.  And, it was super fast to make…  The stamp set is Love You Lots (obviously….) and did a quick marker color and that is that!  This would also make a cute little 3×3 card too for your valentine!
