Collage Curios

Standard

Hello!!

I cannot believe a WHOLE month has passed by…and I’ve not posted anything.  It’s been a CRAZY few weeks and I profusely apologize.  But, lets not wallow in self pity…  On to more exciting things like STAMPING.

As you probably know, today’s featured stamp set is Collage Curios.  And, I have to admit… this one didn’t catch my eye.  I have a hard time with the real little images on a BIG card… but, here is what I came up with.

20130209_141441 20130209_141454

Pennants are HUGE now.  I just helped a very good friend out with her daughter’s wedding (see Anne Matasci, Maui Stamper who is ALSO part of this blog tour)  hang pennants for her wedding!!  And I’ve decided I gotta make some spring pennants to hang in my house.  Just cause I CAN.  (and WHY NOT).  Anyway, you don’t need to be part of the inner voices that are always arguing inside my head…  But, as I was saying, when I saw these pennants I was thinking that they fit the little scallop edgelit in the catalog (Large Scallop Edgelits, #127019) in the catalog.  Then I got to wondering if I actually HAD this die.  And, when I opened my die box, I realized I DID!!  (Don’t you love it when your compulsive stamp shopping actually works out!!).  Anyway, I used the sentiment stamp from the SAB set Vintage Verses (#129636).  And, I just HAD to use the Pool Party Embossing Powder to make it stand out.  There is little detail on this card so the embossing powder really ADDS.  And, my NEW FAVORITE:  THE SUPER TINY SCALLOP PUNCHES.  The yellow scallop circle is the carry over from the Holiday Catalog (1 1/4″ Scallop Circle, pg 36 in the Spring Occasions Catalog, #127811) and the tiny white scallop (7/8″ Scallop Circle, pg 16 in the Spring Occasions Catalog #129404) is new in this catalog.  And, they compliment each other perfectly.  The pool party circle is the 1″ circle…

Anyway, lots of fun.

Here’s a second card I made with the set:

This one, I opened my NEW FRESH package of Core’dinations Paper (#129322, Primrose Petals).  I just LOVE the stuff.  And, it’s only $6.95 for 12 sheets of 12×12!!!  I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder just to add texture and sanded off some of the outer layer of the cardstock to reveal the inner core!!

Then, I used sticky strip to add the DROP DEAD GORGEOUS two tone satin ribbon.  The moment I laid eyes on this stuff I knew I had to have it.  And, I promptly ordered 3 rolls (#129295).  Added the white doily die cut from the Perfect Pennants Bigz Die (#123126), a label from the Apothecary Accents Framelits Collection (#127003).  This was cut out of Basic Gray that had been honeycomb embossed… but you can’t really see it in the picture.

Then, this is my FIRST time flattening the Soda caps!!  Which is VERY easy to do.  You put the soda cap in between the cutting plates and run it through the big shot on the plain (not tab 1 or 2) multipurpose platform.  And VOILA.  A flat soda cap.  That is a GREAT embellishment.  These soda caps are in the Spring Occasions Catalog (#129388).  And, I stamped the word background from the Collage Curios Set in the primrose petals and the Eiffel Tower image with Stazon… just cause I then filled it with Crystal Effects.  Which gives it that nice, lacquered look.  Added some bling, and it’s finished!!  This would be a great Valentine’s Card…with out being TOO sappy…

20130209_141508

another view:  I’m experimenting with angles…

20130209_141522

and, close up… the Crystal Effect kinda smears the pink ink, which is why it’s probably best to use the StazOn for the Eiffel Tower image.  But, the smeary kind of gives it the shabby chic look…

Anyway…

My Heart is Fluttering!!

Standard

Hello!!  And Welcome to the 3rd posting of the Remarkables Blog Tour!!  I hope you are enjoying this… I sure am.

So, Today is about Valentine’s.  Or any other event you’d need LOTS of hearts.  I have to admit.  I first saw this stamp set and didn’t give it a second look.  I have heart stamps.  But, then when I actually PLAYED with it, I fell in love.  And, here’s why:  It’s got matching Framelits.  AND, the heart is the same size in but with different stamps.  I like that I can have the same size of image in many different ways.

And, I am a teacher, so I had Christmas Vacation to play a lot with this set.  It has quickly become a favorite of mine from the Occasions Mini.

Needed a little of inspiration, I took to pinterest to find a color challenge.  This one was a fun one… Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Basic Gray, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White.  I gotta say, Pinterest is the creative jump-start…    And here is what I came up with.  I kind of wanted to do a SUITE of different things… for all the different people you need a little gifty for on Valentine’s Day.

Oh…  and because Heart’s A Flutter is wordless, it works for a lot of different things.  But, I wanted SOME words… so in the samples you see below, all words are from the Tiny Tags Stamp Set.  Nope, I lied.. .Tiny Tags and Pretty Petites (a Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peek…)

20130111_125644

Here we have something for everyone…

First off, is the Valentine’s Card for the Husband (friend, lover, whomever…it’s pretty generic… and you can change the sentiment)

20130106_205350

My favorite, absolute FAVORITE item from the mini is the honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TEIF)

Next we have the gift to our BESTEST FRIEND… (who always appreciates a good hug–both the human and chocolate variety)… The Up-cycled Starbucks Frappachino Bottle filled with a Hershey’s Hugs.

20130111_130453

Then we  have the PERFECT gift for the teachers (and, cause I am a teacher, I can speak from experience)  The Hershey Bar Slider…

20130106_205450

Here is a picture of the bar with it partially open:  (notice that it is HERSHEY DARK)

20130106_205522

And here is the package without the chocolate, so you can see how to put it together.  Punch a hole in the TOP LAYER ONLY of your pocket (and to make the pocket, I just cut card stock a little longer and wider for it to wrap completely around a chocolate bar…or WHATEVER… but this teacher likes chocolate… dark chocolate).  Thread ribbon through it and around a chocolate bar, and tie.  There… It will slide in and out… And BTW… I lied again. The Two Toned Ribbon may be my favorite item.  Well… I CAN’T DECIDE ON A FAVORITE.

Let’s see…where does that leave us…  OH, the little card box.  This is good for your sister, mom, friend, or that person in your life who ALWAYS encourages others.  Cause there are 4 little note cards and mini envelopes that they will just LOVE giving away to people…

20130106_205828

This is a close up of the front of the box.  I used the framelits heart to cut out the heart shape and the new soda caps with crystal effects to add that little detail…  These look great packaged in our gusset cello bags!!

Here is a close up of the contents:

20130111_130210

And next we have the little post-it easel.  These are GREAT for the co-workers. Fast and EASY to make and they are very cost effective as they don’t use a WHOLE pad of post-its.  It will brighten ANYONE’s day on Valentine’s.

20130106_205408

Here it is from the top, closed (mostly…)

20130106_205436

On this, I got out that honeycomb TIEF again!!  And, used the Pool Party Co’ordinations paper.  LOVE IT TOO.  And, I’m getting back into embossing.  I can’t figure out why I didn’t enjoy it.  I always thought I didn’t like it.  But, the SU embossing power melts so smooth… and FAST.  And, the redesigned heat tool (new to this catalog year) WHISPERS compared to the others… (I think I was afraid to emboss cause I’d wake the kid…)  Anyway…

Here is the image of the stamp set…  and if you think you wanna make these Valentine’s, you better get your product ordered.  You have exactly ONE MONTH!!  🙂  And, Hey, Stamp Club Members:  Leave a comment for which project you’d like to make at club this month!!  I can’t decide… I love them all…

Private Classes!! and Hearts A Flutter Preview

Standard

Hello!!

I wanted to take this time to share a new idea I’m trying to implement… the idea of a private class.  What is this exactly? Well, I’m glad you asked.  A private class takes the pressure out of ‘hosting’ an SU event.  Here is how it goes:

You invite the people (and if you need a space. talk to me) and we will make a pre-determined project.  This month, it is the Heart’s A Flutter Mini Love Note Box (see photo below).  Everyone pays $5 to make the project.  End of story.  That way, this includes the people who just like to ‘hang out’ but aren’t stampers.  It is a fun, enjoyable time and we get to craft together.  Now, should people decide they need to place an order, because they had SO MUCH FUN, they can have their class fee refunded (if they place at least a $30 order).  AND, as the host of the private class, you would get to collect the hostess benefits.

And, in addition to the super generous hostess benefits that SU has, here is what I’m going to offer:

  • Handmade or Digitally designed gift by me
  • If 10 guests come, you can receive a free pack of bakers twine (you choose color)
  • If you collect $100 in outside orders, you will receive a free embossing powder
  • For every private ‘class’ scheduled off of yours, you will receive afree stamp pad (purchased at the booked class)

So… Here is the private class project that will be offered this month (until Feb 14).  Contact me to set up your Private Class.  And, as added incentive, January 22 is the start of Sale-A-Bration. This gives every guest who places a $50 order their choice of FREE product.  It’s the best promotion SU does ALL YEAR.  (and, there are incentives for hostesses as well)

These adorable little love notes (they don’t HAVE to be used for Valentines) would you have you ready to go for the holiday.  They would also make good GIFTS for the holiday… packaged in our gusset cello bags!!  This project uses the Hearts A Flutter Stamp Set.  (Which, you need to come back here on January 13 to see a blog tour featuring this set)

Here is a close up of the box, which uses our new SODA CAPS:

I just love them!!  And, with stamp inside and some Crystal Effects, it makes a really nice ‘epoxy’ type embellishment.  And, that new two-toned ribbon…. words cannot describe how wonderful it is…

more sale-a-brating

Standard

Okay… SO here is another glimpse at Sale-A-Bration.

This cutie comes from the Patterned Occasions Sale-A-Bration set.  I love it.  It seems so suited for a teen or tween girl who excels at something and you just wanna give an  “‘atta girl” to…   I can see using it for graduation..  Possibilities are endless.  And, this isn’t the only stamp in the set!!  You will have to stay tuned for more.

20130104_171437

So, this uses the Sycamore Street DSP as well.  And, the honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I think that it is my NEW favorite folder.  It’s available in the Occasions Mini, so you don’t have to wait until January 22 to get it.    And, that little button, it’s new.  From the Occasions Mini…  Another of my favorites.  Beautiful Silver Brushed Nickel.  Stampin’ UP is really getting it right with the buttons.  There was one in the last catalog that I just fell in love with as well…  anyway, I digress…

20130104_171502

Here is an up close  so you can see the texture on the button.  AND the texture on the NEW Pool Party Co’oredinations paper!!  Now, I didn’t even sand the honeycomb after, and it still works great.  But, the way the paper comes, it makes an excellent lightly textured background paper.  LOVE IT.  Do you notice the Rich Razzleberry Scallop Circle?  First off, it’s embossed with the Vine Street TIEF.  But, you must be thinking, what SIZE is that??  Do I have it??  And the answer would be, “No, Cuz it’s NEW”.  The 7/8″ scallop circle.  It coordinates with ALL our other scallop punches so it will be a must have…

Here’s the LOW-DOWN:

  • Patterned  Occasions Stamp Set (SAB)
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper
  • Island Indigo card stock
  • Pool Party Co’ordinations card stock
  • Rich Razzleberry card stock
  • Summer Starfruit card stock
  • 7/8″ scallop punch
  • 1″ circle punch
  • 3/4″ circle punch
  • itty bitty shapes punch pack
  • Pool Party Bakers Twine
  • Basics Designers Buttons (brushed nickel)

And, Don’t forget to check pack on Jan 13!!  We will be having another blog tour featuring “Heart’s A-Flutter”.  I’m SO excited about the stuff I made.  First time I didn’t case ANYTHING (well, the color scheme I took from a color challenge I saw on pinterest).   It was fun just to PLAY… You will be SO ready for Valentine’s Day after this tour…

Oooo. Sale-a-Bration is a comin’

Standard

So, I know it’s wrong.  But.  Hey… if you wanna be part of the it, you gotta sign up to be a demonstrator.  That’s part of the perks.

What’s WRONG (at least how you guys must see it) is that I have my SAB stuff and am CURRENTLY playing with it.  So exciting.  It’s a VERY fun year in regards to Sale-A-Bration.  So, I think it is LOVELY…

But, I couldn’t WAIT to show you what I get to play with!!  Though I cannot show you the set of stamps, I can show you stuff I made with said stamps.

This card is made with a set called Madison Avenue.  It is the one I made for a swap I am in with some other team members.  One of my  upline demos has organized it.  This is a second year I’ve participated in the swap.  It’s a lot of fun and I get lots of great cards made by talented demos (another PERK of being a demo).  Made sitting in my friend, Anne’s kitchen (another demo…which is another PERK… stamping is a communal sport…)

Anyway, here it is:

20121229_000751

So, in this, I’m using the Madison Avenue Stamp set, the coordinating Sycamore Street DSP, and Vine Street (TIEF).  ALL of these items are in the SAB catalog (which means, you get one free with every $50 you spend on merchandise).  YAY!

20121229_000817

Here is a close up.  (Gasp, you do have to cut the tangerine tango layer out of the flower by hand….)  Sorry.  But, it adds SO much…  it really doesn’t take long.

I don’t know why, but I’ve been in a texture layering mood lately.  So, as you can (kind-of) see, the rich razzleberry is embossed with the vine street (TIEF).  Then, I layered the DSP with the same print, then dsp with polka-dots and a solid (Tangerine Tango).  I just love the bright colors.  It really is kind of an ‘in your face’ card but it is a perfect, cheery, “Hello” in an envelope.  The card base is made out of summer starfruit (confession, when I first saw starfruit, I thought it looked vaguely similar to something that comes out of a newborn… BUT… IT IS PROBABLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE COLORS now…)  absolutely love it.  And, I would nave never thought of using these colors with it, but was just trying to keep the same as what is in the dsp…  And, it works!!   Those SU designers have it all figured out.

You will get a chance to earn SAB products starting January 22.  So…  if you wanna host a workshop (get more stuff for free) give me a call and we can set a date.  Also, if you haven’t received the new Occasions Mini, or the SAB catalog, let me know and I will be happy to get you one.

Anyway, As preparations are being made for ringing in a new year, I wish you the best.  And, hopefully you are safe and have a little time to enjoy some crafting!!  And family!!  and friends!!  and… and…and…  we are so richly blessed….

AND OH!!  Our next blog tour is coming up… Jan 13!!   It will feature Hearts A Flutter from the Occasions Mini (Think Valentine’s!!)

“FLEECE MOM AND DAD”

Standard

isaac 2012 christmas pic

Translated:  Isaac says MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I just want to take a moment to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas Day.  We went to Christmas Eve Service and while singing the Christmas carols it hit me how incredibly blessed I am.   I am humbled at the mercies Christ shows me daily.  I don’t understand why things happen, but I am so wonderfully happy to know the King of Kings and know that nothing happens to us that He isn’t fully aware of, and in complete control.  And, words cannot express how thankful I am for my family and friends.  And as Isaac will also spend the entire day singing:  “Happy Birthday to JESUS!!  (He is also on a “Fleece Mom and Dad” kick…  –doesn’t quite get all the Spanish just right)

(and now I gotta go finish wrapping…)

Making Christmas Treats

Standard

Well…  Gotta love pinterest.  Lots of ideas to copy.  Perhaps my favorite place for inspiration.  Anyway this post is all about Christmas treats.  I love making them.  And I love eating them. But I especially love making them with my mom and sisters.  It wasn’t in the plan this year though. Last summer we made my favorite Christmas treat in July… Mom’s homemade chocolate covered cherries…  The 4th of July may just become the 2nd Christmas… As far as treat making and eating goes.

Anyway,  I digress…

First off,  I made oreo truffles and chocolate dipped peanutbutter crackers. The delicious truffles are a recipe from one of my club members,  Jodi.  She likes making treats too…

image

And here are some Christmas sugar cookies.  I wish Mindy were here to help me get the frosting technique right.  But oh well…

image

And the collateral damage

image

I still have food coloring stains… Stop by tomorrow for treat.  If i don’t eat them all first…

Lots of Tags!

Standard

Botb of my stamp clubs decided to do tag exchanges for our December meeting.   It was tons of fun.  For one group,  Harriette designed a little game where we had to guess who made each tag.  I did a little better this year… Got 4 right. Last year I only got one right (my own….  Hum….) anyway…

So…  Here are the tags!

image

image

And  here is tbe one I made…  Love that core’dinations card stock.  There are some new colors coming in the new spring occasions catalog,  but if you like these colors you’d better order before January 2…

image

And, I wanted to show you some mds tags I made.  In an effort to simplify Christmas,  I decided to make a bunch of tags.  These can be used on gifts,  neighbor gifts,  whatever…  Love it… Cause I made it but it was so fast and easy….

image

And…  Here is what it went on… SCONES!! To go with the lemon curd…

image

Well…  Hope you have a good next couple of days…   Getting ready for Christmas. I still have some baking to do…. And a gigantic pot of Portuguese Bean Soup to make.  My stomach is already growling…

Take time to enjoy each other.

Christmas Lemons

Standard

image

So… I know I need to get a post up with all my tags I got from my swaps… Promise. I will. But I wanted to share with you a tag I made for my “Christmas Lemons”. This year I decided to make lemon curd for the neighbors. It has been a bountiful year as far as the lemon tree is concerned and I wanted to share some of the deliciousness it provides. Of course, I needed a super cute tag for the jar… So the perfectly preserved framlits was perfect! And that yum stamp…. Is a SNEEK PEEK. Now… You can’t wait for January… Can you?

Remarkable Stamp of the Month Blog Tour: Affection Collection

Standard

Hello Again!

Thanks for stopping by on our blog tour for this month…  As you probably know, the chosen stamp set is Affection Collection (item 127949 for clear and #127946 for wood).  It’s found in the Holiday Catalog.

This set is one I probably wouldn’t have looked at in a catalog and chosen.  We got it for convention, and then it was chosen for the blog tour.  Which is nice, cause it is causing me to take a second look at thinks that I originally passed over.

20121208_143527

I had fun making this card.  I kind of had Valentine’s in mind, but it would work great for a wedding, anniversary…  OR, you could substitiute the Love stamp for the Friend Stamp and it could be a multipurpose card!!  I am starting to enjoy doing the layering, shabby-chic, grunge…whatever it’s called (that is what I’m calling the layering of images onto the newsprint paper).  And, I love the pink pirouette paper…adds just the right amount of femininity   (Here is a trick I use… I use pink pirouette paper with pretty in pink ink… I find that the pink pirouette ink is often too light for what I need, but the pretty in pink paper too dark… so this is a good compromise.  And, another trick I read on someone’s blog… sorry I cannot remember where…  Coloring the pearls.  I used the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker (#128978) and also available in gold…  to color the pearls.  This is a very nice technique… when the white pear is too stark for what you want.  And, it adds a little unexpectedness to the image.  Here’s a close up:

20121208_143645

Anyway, here is a list of the items I used:

  • Affection Collection Stamp Set (item 127949 for clear and #127946 for wood)– Holiday Catalog
  • Card Stock:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
  • DSP:  Newsprint
