Best of LOVE

Welcome BACK!!  This is the Stampin’ UP’s 25th Anniversary “Best of ” Blog Tour.  This month, we are featuring the ‘Best of LOVE’ stamp set.  Though it is aimed at being a valentine stamp set, I think there are many other ways you can use it.  It’s got perfect images for weddings and other just ‘thinking’ of you kind of cards…  so… here we go!!

“OLIVE YOU!!  Get it???  (snort, snort…)  I paired this olive stamp the from the Best of Love stamp with the Martini glass from Happy Hour stamp set.  I love the pewter embossing powder.  It melts SO smoothly.

Here is a little closer picture…

This is Lucky Limeade paper and ribbon…  I’ve used the Melon Mambo prints paper pack for that polka-dot paper.  And, of course, basic black…

The next sample is a little more elegant… Perfect for a wedding, bridal shower… or just a heart-felt thinking of you card.

I’m using the basic gray paper and I used the paper doilies from the Spring Occasions catalog…  I cut the lattice die out of gray paper too and layered over.  The silver glimmer and rich razzleberry flags give a little bit of color punch over the layers.  And of course, I stamped and embossed the big heart image with clear embossing powder just to give it the tone-on-tone elegant look.

The vintage faceted button with a tidge of white baker’s twine tied in the holes finishes off the card.  I left it plain, but a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes could be stamped on a white flag and added to the ensemble…

FUN STAMP SET!!  Even though February is OVER, these will still be available until March 2014.  Go ahead and get yours!!  And, you’ll get a little decal and collector’s card.  If you collect 6 decals between now and March 2014, you can trade it in for a free stamp set valued at $14.95 or less…

Well… Thanks for stopping by!! Off to the next project…  click the button below…

So…  school is almost out.  One more day.  Kids get out at noon.  That cannot come soon enough.

Anyway, I was recently asked to create 2 scrapbook albums (nearly identical) as gifts for a friend’s daughter-in-law and her mother.  The books covered the grandchild’s first birthday.  Little girl, so we got to do it up right.  Very different creating things for a girl than a boy… I gotta say… a little more fun.  There’s lots more ‘stuff’ to use and you can make it as foo-foo as you want.  And, yes.  It is a technical term.

The theme of the birthday party was cherry blossoms, so I tried to replicate that is best as possible.  I had my friend group the pictures by subject/people and name everyone in them so I could create the pages in some form of order.  The biggest difficulty I had was trying to write about all these people—people I have not met.  But, I think we figured something out that would work.  This is the result:

This is the cover page.  I used Circle Circus to create a custom background “DSP” on whisper white for every page.  And, every color of PINK ink Stampin’ UP has.  I used melon mambo to back the pages.  The pictures are matted, again, in every color pink we have….  Then, cut out TONS of flowers with the big shot and embossed, rhinestoned, dazzling detailed, buttoned and ribboned everything that I could….(gotta love girlie…)

Here are a couple of the inside sspreads:

This was a fun project… Everything came together very well.  I was very happy with the results.  And, so was my friend and her family.  They were gifts for mother’s day….
